Compulsory Superannuation Cover
It is now compulsory for superannuation funds in Australia to provide their members with cover for situations where they suffer from a life threatening disease or a terminal illness. Superannuation funds have differing requirements for a successful payout and it is best to seek legal advice to build your claim. Remember, we only get paid if your case is successful. If you have been unable to work for six months or more due to any illness, you should contact us.
Superfunds often make payments between $10,000 — $250,000 and sometimes more. We can also claim from multiple super funds if you have had multiple jobs. We will look into this for you.
TPD Claim Details
If you are unable to work due to any illness or injury it is likely you can make a total and permanent disability claim, TPD for short. Superannuation Claim and TPD Claim are used interchangeably. ‘Unable to work’ means that you can no longer go back to your usual occupation or any other related work that fits your education, training and experience.
We think it is always worthwhile making a TPD Claim because the monies will go to your loved ones in the unfortunate circumstances your illness is terminal.
Qualifying Medical Conditions
Stroke, heartache, diabetes, pancreatic cancer, other cancers, heart disease, HIV/AIDS (there are many more) are all terminal diseases that allow you to make a TPD claim.
Claim Process
The process involved in making a TPD claim is anything but straightforward and super funds are increasingly more reluctant to approve claims unless properly supported with the relevant reports and legal documents. An advantage of making a claim with PK Simpson is the online access and phone contact we provide to people all over Australia. Face to face appointments are not required. We deal with the insurer on your behalf.
Estate Claims
Sadly, cases have arisen when claimants have passed away prior to super funds approving claims for terminal illness and disability / TPD. In these situations pay outs go to the estate of the deceased, benefiting those family members left behind. Disability claims can also be made out of the estate of the claimant after he/she has died.
